June 28th Memorial WOD

Join us this Saturday (June 28th) for a special 9:30am class where we will honor the sacrifice of 11 Navy SEALs and 8 Army Nightstalkers that died on June 28th, 2o05 in the mountains of Afghanistan.  Read about their story here.  Soon after this tragic incident, crossfit.com started The Heros Workouts and the first three were named for Navy SEALs from that day.

On Saturday, all are welcome to this free event and you will have the choice of one of the three workouts - "JT", named after Petty Officer First Class Jeff Taylor, "Michael", named after LT Michael McGreevy or "Murph", named after LT Michael Murphy.

Please join us at 9:30am on Saturday, June 28th.  Bring your friends!

AWESOME! What a great team we have at CFAI. Thanks for pushing me through to the end. I made my goal of finishing Murphy and did it under an hour. L1 - 59:40. Great Job to all. Amy

Wow!!! Great job to all. Taylor- great idea, great WOD, and great effort with Murph. I think you have a great 'motion' on the table to complete the WOD each year on the 28th of June. Do we have a second? Special thanks to Kate and Amy for 'pre-registering' to the photo journalism party.

I especially like the idea of crashing Pak's Karate party after the workout. Bryan and Carolyn..thank you for having us over!

I personally completed JT today. I believe my time was 18m 17s - but will have to double check for accuracy. Shoulders were roasted. Lost it a few times on the HSPU's.

I love seeing our Sandbox clan come together for events like this. It makes my heart feel so good to know that you all are taking control of your health and fitness. The "cause" helps us get through the WOD's...but your health is the result. Congrats all!

First I have to say that I really enjoyed both the workout today and being able to cheer people on as they endured their own, but I am honored to do this WOD today on behalf of LT Michael Murphey. I did some reading on his life and was deeply moved by his story of life and death. In the throws of my own warfare today I really felt like I experienced a fragment of what he went through on that day. Committment and dedication to finish what you start, fear of the unknown, commraderie, use of skills learned and sacrifice. May we always have these opportunities to remember and honor those who are killed in the line of duty. Murph: 53:26 (Taylor YOU ROCK)

Good times this morning! Something about going through an early morning thrashing like that with you all that made it all really special for me. I've been in the fetal position pretty much the rest of the day. Love our group and would've loved Murph if it wasn't 80 degrees with 85 percent humidity this morning. Brutal. Glad that misery loves company. Somewhere over an hour depending on when I finished 20 rounds which seems to be up for debate. Enjoy the rest day...or couple of days.

I hated that I had to miss this event. The meaning behind the WOD's is so heart filling. Reading about each of the guys that the WOD's were named after makes it more personal. Congrads to all that were able to make it to the sandbox for this special day.
